Swimmer Katie Ledecky has set a world record in women’s 800m freestyle.

RIO DE JANEIRO (Sputnik) – Swimmer Katie Ledecky of the United States has set a world record in women’s 800m freestyle.

Ledecky completed the distance at the Rio Olympics in 8 minutes 04.79 seconds on Friday. The previous world record (8 minutes 06.68 seconds) was also set by Ledecky, in January of this year.
