    The athletes’ have finished walking across the Maracana Stadium in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

    RIO DE JANEIRO (Sputnik) – Brazil was the last of 207 countries to have its athletes march across the stadium.

    A total of about 12,000 athletes walked out on Friday, carrying their national flags. The Russian flag was carried by volleyball player Sergei Tetyukhin, a four-time Olympic medalist who won gold at the 2012 London Olympics.

    The Summer Olympic Games are being held in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro from August 5 until August 21.
