    Russian President Vladimir Putin does not have plans to visit the opening of the Rio Olympics, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin is not scheduled to attend the opening of the Rio Olympics, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

    "I can just tell you that the president's schedule does not include such a trip, the same goes for the head of the [presidential] administration," Peskov told reporters, adding that he had no information regarding other officials and government members.
