Russia will file a lawsuit on the ban on Russian weightlifters participation in the near future.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia will submit an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the ban on Russian weightlifters participation in Rio Olympics in next one to two days, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said Saturday.

"Unfortunately, the federation took collective responsibility again and suspended the whole team. What we have now, the CAS is open 24 hours a day, I think that today or tomorrow we will support athletes, including by an appeal," Mutko told Match TV television channel.

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) decided on Friday to ban the Russian national team from participating in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Brazil.
