Garbine Muguruza, 22, a Spanish professional tennis player, beat US national Serena Williams 7-5, 6-4 and won the French Open final.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Garbine Muguruza, 22, a Spanish professional tennis player, won her first grand slam title after beating US national Serena Williams 7-5, 6-4 in the French Open final on Saturday.

Williams, 34, lost the opportunity to tie the record of Germany's Steffi Graf and win the 22nd major singles title.

On Sunday, Novak Djokovic of Serbia will face British number one Andy Murray in the French Open men's final.
