Court of Arbitration for Sport Lowers Platini's Football Ban to Four Years
In December 2015, Platini was banned from football-related activities over corruption allegations for six years. Earlier in the day, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) cut the suspension period to four years. Following the announcement, Platini said he would resign as he failed to overturn his ban.

"I think that [the Euro 2016 football championship] will be held without problems. The UEFA is an organization with great experience. Everything will be alright," Mutko told R-Sport, answering the question, whether Platini's resignation would make problems for the Euro 2016 football championship.

The Euro 2016 football championship is scheduled to take place in France from June 10 to July 10.
