Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said that the budget for organising the organizing committee for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia for next year will amount to some 4 billion, including 2 billion from FIFA and the rest consisting of state money and donations from business.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Next year's budget for the organizing committee for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will amount to some 4 billion rubles (about $57 million at the current exchange rate), Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said Wednesday.

"The budget for 2016 amounts to some 4 billion, including 2 billion from FIFA and the rest consisting of state money and donations from our business partners," Mutko, who is also the committee chairman, told reporters.

Next year, the committee will be involved in the preparations for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup to be held on June 17 — July 2 in four out of the 12 World Cup stadiums in Russia.

The total budget for organizing the 2018 FIFA World Cup is 631.5 billion rubles.

From June 14 to July 15, 2018, Russia will host the FIFA World Cup for the first time in history. The World Cup, the world's preeminent football championship, will take place in 11 Russian cities: Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Saransk, Sochi, St. Petersburg and Volgograd.
