IOC Calls for Creation of Independent Entity to Conduct Anti-Doping Testing

IOC proposed to set up a separate testing entity under the auspices of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The International Olympic Committee proposed on Thursday setting up a separate testing entity under the auspices of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to ensure that the anti-doping system is independent of sports organizations.

"An independent testing and results management entity should be set up under the leadership of WADA. Sports organisations should transfer their doping control operations to this new organisation and make the funding available initially at the level of the present investment in the fight against doping," the IOC said in a statement.

"The IOC strives to have such an independent anti-doping system in place from the Olympic Winter Games 2018 onwards," the statement said.
