WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former FIFA Vice President Jeffrey Webb has pleaded guilty to charges of corruption, US Justice Department stated in a press release on Thursday.

“On Nov. 23, 2015, Jeffrey Webb, a former FIFA vice president and Executive Committee member…pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy, three counts of wire fraud conspiracy and three counts of money laundering conspiracy,” the release stated.

“Rafael Callejas: Current member of the FIFA Television and Marketing Committee. Former Honduran soccer federation president and President of the Republic of Honduras,” the release said, listing defendants in the indictment.

Also, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said that the United States anticipates more charges will be announced in the massive FIFA corruption probe.

"This [FIFA] investigation is active, it is ongoing, and as always we do anticipate additional charges," Lynch said during a press conference.

"I'm not able to comment on what may or may not happen with the games that have already been awarded,” Lynch said when asked whether the FIFA investigation would affect Russia and Qatar’s ability to host the next World Cup games.
