MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The international community should not surrender to the terror threat fearing attacks during sports events and cancel Ice Hockey World 2016 Championship in Russia or 2017 Championship in Paris and Cologne, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Rene Fasel said Tuesday.

France Cancels Sports Competitions in Paris Region Due to Terror Attacks
At least 130 people were killed and over 360 injured in suicide bombings and shootings at several venues, including a football stadium, in Paris on November 13.

"So we should not capitulate in front of the terrorism. To cancel different events would be wrong so we have to be very trustful in the security people. If the government says 'You can come' I trust them," Fasel told R-Sport agency in an interview.

Islamic State (ISIL) jihadist group claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks.
