International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said that the terrorist attacks in Paris will not affect the voting for the host city of the 2024 Olympic Games.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A series of terrorist attacks in Paris will not affect the city's chances of hosting the 2024 Summer Games, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said Monday.

On Friday night, eight extremists wearing explosive belts attacked several venues across Paris, killing some 130 people and injuring over 350 at restaurants, the Bataclan concert hall and in the vicinity of the Stade de France stadium.

"No, the terrorist attacks in Paris will not affect the voting for the host city of the 2024 Olympic Games. The members of IOC have great experience. They understand that no one knows what will the world be like in 2024. They also understand that terrorism is not a problem of France or Paris only, but a global problem," Bach told French sports daily L'Equipe.

In September, the IOC announced a final list of candidates for the 2024 Summer Games, including, alongside Paris, the German city of Hamburg, Italy's capital Rome, Los Angeles in the United States, and Hungary's Budapest.
