MOSCOW, March 28 (R-Sport) - Two-time KHL champion Dynamo Moscow has promoted assistant coach Harijs Vitolins to the head coach job, general director Andrei Safronov said Friday.

Vitolins, from Latvia, was the longtime assistant to Oleg Znarok, who led Dynamo to two KHL Gagarin Cups in the last two seasons before moving on to become head coach of the Russian national team.

Vitolins will combine his work at Dynamo with a role assisting Znarok with the Russian national team.

Dynamo was the KHL regular season champion this year but suffered a shock exit in the first round of the playoffs, losing a hard-fought series 4-3 to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
