MOSCOW, August 16 (R-Sport) - Usain Bolt cruised into the semifinals of the 200 meters at the world championships in Moscow on Friday, leaving plenty of power in reserve.

Bolt strolled to victory in 20.66 seconds, the slowest winning time in any of the seven heats, ahead of Britain’s Delano Williams and Lalonde Gordon of Trinidad and Tobago.

“The race was easy,” the Jamaican said. “We are just trying to get through the morning rounds as easy as possible.”

Bolt was in control of the race about 50m in, and was far below his maximum pace at the end.

"That was really, really  nice to run alongside Usain Bolt, qualifying for the semifinals," said Williams, who is in his first major competition for Britain since switching from Turks and Caicos. "It was an easy run."

The first three in each of the seven heats qualify for Friday evening’s semifinals, as do the three fastest other runners across the heats - those fastest losers are Greece's Likourgos-Stefanos Tsakonas, Ecuador's Alex Quinonez and Poland's Karol Zalewski.

The championships are being held at Moscow’s Luzhniki arena, the venue for athletics at the 1980 Olympics, and end Sunday.
