MOSCOW, June 2 (R-Sport) – World No. 1 Serena Williams delivered a straight-set defeat to Italy’s Roberta Vinci in the fourth-round match of the French Open on Sunday.

Williams slammed 32 winners against Vinci's 13 to grab a 6-1, 6-3 victory in 70 minutes to reach the quarterfinals. It was her 28th win in a row, dating back to early February.

“The most important thing is that I hope to get as far as possible,” Williams, speaking in French, said in televised comments after the match.

She next faces world No. 39 Svetlana Kuznetsova, who ousted eighth-seeded Angelique Kerber earlier Sunday.

The players met in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros in 2009, when Kuznetsova beat Williams on the way to her second Grand Slam title. Williams, however, leads their overall head-to-head record 6-2.
