MOSCOW, November 19 (R-Sport) - Joaozinho scored one goal and set up two more as FC Krasnodar demolished Terek Grozny 3-0 at home in the Russian Premier League on Monday.
Seventh-placed Terek’s slide continues with a third defeat in four games as Krasnodar stay ninth and keep pace with Lokomotiv a place above, who beat Krylya Sovetov 1-0 earlier Monday.
Even without top-scorer Yura Movsisyan, Krasnodar looked dangerous throughout, racking up nine shots on goal in a match played in thick fog.
"We made a lot of mistakes which Krasnodar used," Terek coach Stanislav Cherchesov said in televised comments.
"I think a good first half, the second half not so good, but the most important thing is three points," Krasnodar coach Slavoljub Muslin said in televised comments.
The first goal was an all-Brazilian affair as Joaozinho scored from the penalty spot on 13 minutes after Terek’s Antonio Ferreira shoved Wanderson.
Four minutes later, Wanderson made it 2-0 with a tap in from a Joaozinho left-wing cross, his seventh assist of the season.
The third came courtesy of Evgeny Shipitsin on 51 minutes, the Krasnodar defender hammering the loose ball into the net after Joaozinho’s free kick clattered off the post.
Joaozinho could have had another goal if not for Terek goalkeeper Evgeny Godzyur’s reaction save to deny his low shot on 59 minutes.
On Sunday, CSKA Moscow dismantled Amkar Perm 3-0, before FC Kuban beat Mordovia Saransk by the same scoreline and second-placed Anzhi Makhachkala dropped points with a goalless draw against FC Rostov.
On Saturday, FC Volga held Spartak Moscow to a 1-1 draw, and Rubin Kazan beat Alania Vladikavkaz 2-0, while Dynamo Moscow’s game against Zenit St. Petersburg was abandoned after an attack on Dynamo’s goalkeeper.
Later Monday, FC Krasnodar host Terek Grozny.
