MOSCOW, November 19 (R-Sport) - An early Dame N’Doye strike was enough for Lokomotiv Moscow to claim a scrappy 1-0 win at coachless Krylya Sovetov on Monday.
The victory was Lokomotiv’s first in seven league games stretching back to September, but it was unconvincing and may not relieve much of the pressure on coach Slaven Bilic and club president Olga Smorodskaya.
Krylya recorded their fifth defeat in a row despite seeing more of the ball and recording as many shots as the Railwaymen.
The decisive goal came four minutes in, when N’Doye sprinted onto a pass from the midfield and powered a shot past goalkeeper Sergei Veremko.
Krylya had a strong penalty shout soon after when Yan Tigorev shoved Viktor Svezhov in the penalty area, but the referee was unmoved.
Neither team’s position in the Russian Premier League table changed, as Lokomotiv stay eighth and Krylya 13th.
On Sunday, CSKA Moscow went dismantled Amkar Perm 3-0, before FC Kuban beat Mordovia Saransk by the same scoreline and second-placed Anzhi Makhachkala dropped points with a goalless draw against FC Rostov.
On Saturday, FC Volga held Spartak Moscow to a 1-1 draw, and Rubin Kazan beat Alania Vladikavkaz 2-0, while Dynamo Moscow’s game against Zenit St. Petersburg was abandoned after an attack on Dynamo’s goalkeeper.
Later Monday, FC Krasnodar host Terek Grozny.
