Dynamo Riga defenseman Mathieu Carle has been disqualified for two games for making physical contact with a referee, the KHL said Tuesday.
The infraction happened in the 5-2 defeat to Metallurg Magnitogorsk on Monday. The Canadian player received a games penalty in the 55th minute.
According to the KHL regulations, the violation carries a mandatory two-game disqualification and an additional five-game ban may be imposed depending on its severity.
Another disqualification in the KHL saw Dynamo Minsk lockout signing Evander Kane banned for one match after a check to the head of Avangard Omsk defenseman Nikita Pivtsakin on Monday.
That game ended in a 3-2 overtime defeat for Avangard, last season’s Gagarin Cup runner-up.
