Figure skaters Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov won the pairs event of the Russian Federation Cup in Sochi on Sunday, the first test event for the 2014 Sochi Games at the Iceberg Skating Palace.
The 12,000-seater arena will stage 13 medal events in figure skating and speedskating in February 2014.
Kavaguti and Smirnov, who won the European pairs title in 2010, racked up 195.03 points in their short program and free skate to clinch first place.
Ksenia Stolbova and Fyodor Klimov were second with 180.89 points, while Tatiana Novik and Andrey Novoselov took third place with 148.80 points.
Earlier on Sunday, Nikol Gosviyani won the women's event.
Gosviyani, who got 55.87 points in her short program to capture the lead Saturday, dominated Sunday’s free skate to win with an overall score of 159.29.
Polina Korobeinikova claimed second place with 154.12 points and Sofia Biryukova was third with 148.08 points.
The Iceberg Skating Palace will stage the 2012-2013 Grand Prix Final in December.
