Russian figure skater Artur Gachinski has embraced the sport’s hardest and highest-scoring move by adding two quads to his free program for the new season, he told R-Sport on Sunday.

Gachinski has twice won the prestigious Coupe de Nice and won silver at last year’s European championships, but has yet to approach the success of fellow Russian Evgeni Plushenko, an Olympic, world and European champion.

“Now in training I’m using the quadruple Salchow and [quadruple] toe loop, trying to do them together as often as possible,” Gachinski said.

“So far we have the quad Salchow and toe loop planned for the free program, also two triple axels and triple Lutzes.”

Gachinski’s free program for the new season is being developed with Canadian choreographer David Wilson, the first time the pair have worked together.
