Ex-Scotland striker Garry O’Connor was sent off in his first match after returning to Russia with second-tier side FC Tomsk on Monday.

O’Connor was red-carded on 65 minutes after picking up two bookings in the space of five minutes against Baltika Kaliningrad.

He moved to Tomsk as a free agent last month after leaving Scottish side Hibernian at the end of last season.

His debut was delayed by a ban on Tosmk registering new players with the league because of debts to current and former players.

O’Connor was the first British player to play in the Russian league when he signed for Lokomotiv Moscow in 2006, leaving after 15 months.

He earned 16 caps for Scotland between 2002 and 2009, scoring four goals.
