Swiss hockey team the Kloten Flyers are to hold a game in memory of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl air crash victims.

Stars such as Evgeni Malkin, Ilya Kovalchuk and Valery Kamensky are to take part in Memory Night, an event set for August 4 in the town of Kloten, just north of Zurich, the team said on its website Wednesday.

September's crash, which occurred as Lokomotiv was en route to its first game of the season in the Belarus capital Minsk, killed 44 people and wiped out the entire roster including Canadian head coach Brad McCrimmon.

Among the dead were a slew of former NHL stars and future draft prospects.

Since the crash, the three-time Russian champion has been assembling a new squad for its return to the KHL next season after fielding a makeshift team of youth players and loan signings in the junior MHL.
