Russia's Chakvetadze beats compatriot in Kremlin cup semifinals

MOSCOW, October 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's unseeded Anna Chakvetadze defeated her compatriot, Yelena Dementyeva (4), at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow Saturday, advancing to the final of the $2.34 million tennis tournament.

Chakvetadze won the first set 7-5 and secured a blank victory in the third set, although Dementyeva defeated her in the second set 3-6. The game continued for 2 hours 6 minutes.

In the final match of the tournament in ladies singles group, Chakvetadze will face Nadezhda Petrova (5), who defeated Nicole Vaidisova (8) from the Czech Republic 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) earlier Saturday.
