After Democratic candidate Joe Biden claimed victory in the US presidential election on 7 November, his supporters started celebrating his win by dancing, popping open champagne, and setting off fireworks in US cities and around the world.

Maxime Switek, a correspondent for French news channel BFM TV, was hilariously interrupted during a report from Washington D.C.

A topless man interrupted the report, telling the journalist and viewers how much he loves France, giving his best French accent, and shouting "I've been to France; it’s beautiful! I ate escargot! I love a croissant. I love an omelette du fromage".

Despite the spoiled report, Switek's face turned red and he started laughing at the man's comments. The video rapidly went viral, gaining over 9 million views.

Netizens loved the footage, sharing it on their social media accounts with funny captions. Some even suggested that the "omelette du fromage" phrase was taken from the cartoon series Dexter's Laboratory.

On Saturday, people took to the streets of Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle, Portland and other large cities throughout the US where residents predominately voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in the election, which was held on 3 November. Americans celebrated Biden's win by dancing, popping open champagne, and setting off fireworks all over the world.

Biden appears to have secured victory in the election by expanding on his narrow leads over Trump in the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Georgia.
