For many years, giant squids were considered to be legendary creatures, but in 2004, scientists finally filmed the scary sea dweller in its natural habitat for the first time. But they are still extremely rare, and this one looks really huge!

This fascinating sea monster was filmed in the Gulf of Mexico at a depth of 759 metres (2,490 feet). The squid is estimated to be as long 3-3.5 metres (10 to 12 feet) – a peculiar specimen, indeed, and quite scary!

However, the squid decided not to attack the camera and swiftly swam away from it.
