Iran's Recent Mass Prisoner Execution 'Shameful Low Point' – Human Rights Watch
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The actions of the United Nations Human Rights Council to help protect migrants, refugees and individuals facing discrimination are insufficient, an international watchdog said on Wednesday.

"The Council continues to underperform in addressing the human rights of migrants and refugees, and the surge of xenophobia and intolerance in Europe or, as the High Commissioner aptly put it, the 'banalisation of bigotry'," the Human Rights Watch (HRW) statement said.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Hussein repeatedly addressed the surge of intolerance in politics. Last week he called out European politicians and US presidential candidate Donald Trump for using the propaganda similar to that of Islamic State, a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia and many other countries.

The statement also addressed Human Rights Council's failure to properly investigate civilian deaths in Yemen and put a stop to killings and torture in Burundi.
