The unimaginable craze over Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming movie 'Kabali' has swept through India's southern states.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Movie star Rajinikanth, who enjoys a cult following in southern India, has a new movie out, turning an ordinary date into a festival among ecstatic film buffs in India's southern states. Rajinikath's much awaited new movie 'Kabali' will be released on July 22, triggering a frenzy among fans. Movie tickets are sold out long in advance. Corporate offices have been flooded by applications to take the day off, forcing many of them to declare a 'special holiday' on July 22. Some companies have also promised free tickets to their employees and their family members as a goodwill gesture.

Rajinikanth has an unprecedented fan following; his admirers see him as a demigod. 'Kabali' starring Rajinikanth as the protagonist has reportedly already made a 100% profit due to distribution rights and advance bookings for the first day. This is said to be the biggest-ever advance booking in the history of Tamil cinema.

There are also speculations emerging that the 'Kabali Craze' could perhaps be the reason behind the sudden rise in the stocks of multiplexes in the Indian share market.

'Kabali Fever' has gripped many India states, especially those in the south of the country where the Tamil language is spoken. Fans are covering their cars, motor-cycles, shop windows, mobile phone covers and the likes with images from the movie.
