Politicians, Big Business Call the Shots in US, EU Media – Opinion Poll
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Yulia Shamporova – A recent poll carried out by ICM Research exclusively for Sputnik showed that 56 percent of European and US residents believed that the mainstream media in their countries is influenced by politicians and big business.

"Since the media is funded by politicians and businesses, American politicians use the media to influence people’s minds, and promote their political interests not only inside America but throughout the world," Somar Wijayadasa, who is currently a contributor for the IPS-Inter Press Service News Agency, said.

The poll results show that some 75 percent of Italians, 69 percent of Spaniards, and 60 percent of French doubt the objectivity of mainstream media, while 53 percent of US citizens share a similar opinion.

ICM Research surveyed over 8,200 people in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the United States on May 1-4, 2015.
