MOSCOW, October 24 (RIA Novosti) - The first Ebola case has been detected in Mali, BBC News Africa reported.

A 2-year old girl who had recently arrived from Guinea was diagnosed with the Ebola virus, BBC reported Thursday. The adults who were in contact with the girl have also been quarantined.

Mali is bordered by Guinea where the current outbreak of the Ebola disease started at the end of 2013.

The Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the body fluids of those infected.

The latest figures by the World Health Organization (WHO) released on October 22 show that the current Ebola outbreak has claimed the lives of 4,877, with 9,900 confirmed, probable and suspected Ebola cases.
