    Russia increases contribution to Global Fund to Fight AIDS

    MOSCOW, July 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government has decided to increase its annual contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to $10 million from 2005-2006, the government said Tuesday.

    Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed a relevant order.

    From 2007-2008, the annual contribution to the fund will be $5 million.

    The Global Fund was set up to finance the unprecedented breakthrough in the fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which kill more than 6 million people every year and the number continues to grow.
