Kosovo Hackers Plead Guilty to Stealing US Military Data for Daesh
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Kaspersky Lab security expert revealed that Facebook users had been tricked into infecting their devices with a Trojan malicious computer program through a false message claiming the user was mentioned on the social networking site. With users in Latin America, Europe, Tunisia and Israel most affected, the virus hijacked user accounts to spread the infection further and enable further hacking activity.

"The Trojan used by the attackers is far from new, it had manifested itself in similar incidents around a year ago. Back then, as well as now, labels indicate that the malware attacks are perpetrated by hackers who speak Turkish," the company said in a statement.

Facebook has since acted to prevent the further spread of malware, while Google has deleted a malicious extension which was being installed on infected devices, according to the statement.

No further hacking attempts have been observed.
