MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia’s new monitoring system capable of instantly transferring recordings from the sites of battles and natural disasters was unveiled for the first time at the MAKS air show, the developer said on Saturday.

Design Bureau-1 head Ruslan Ashurbeyli told RIA Novosti that the drone named Glaz ("Eye") was able to quickly and easily send footage from the height of around 250 meters (820 feet) to any device that supports Wi-Fi.

"The system is an alternative for drones with a small radius of action which need trained personnel and bulky equipment. Glaz weighs around 300 grams," Ashurbeyli said, adding that the new system was more financially viable than other unmanned aerial vehicles.

MAKS-2015 International Aviation and Space Salon is underway in the Russian city of Zhukovsky, with over 400,000 visitors expected during the course of the event running between August 25 and 30.
