The politician fell gravely ill during a flight to Moscow earlier this week, which resulted in an emergency landing in Omsk, where he was admitted to an emergency care unit of a local hospital. Navalny's press secretary immediately claimed he was poisoned, however, medics found no traces of poison in his blood samples.

Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny has been taken to the German capital where he is expected to receive medical treatment after his wife Yulia requested a transfer to the Charite Hospital, accepting the possible risks of his transportation.

The Cinema for Peace foundation confirmed he arrived in Berlin, adding that his condition is stable. According to the foundation, Navalny's family will make a statement in the coming days.
In the meantime, a Sputnik correspondent has reported that Navalny was admitted to the Charite Hospital.

Navalny was hospitalised on Thursday with severe pain and went into a coma. After running the necessary tests, Russian medics from the Omsk hospital where the activist was being treated stressed there were no traces of poison in his blood and urine samples. They put his condition down to a metabolic disorder.
