"A seismic event took place in the afternoon on Friday. The epicenter of the quake was located in the Pacific Ocean waters near the Shipunskiy peninsula at the depth of around 20 kilometers [12.5 miles] and 170 kilometers to the northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky," the GS RAS spokesperson said.
According to the data of the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the tremors were not felt in nearby settlements.
