Amid media reports on an "undisclosed" second meeting between the Russian and US presidents, the Russian foreign minister mocked the coverage of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump's conversation during a G20 dinner.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov joked over a hypothetical fourth meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump at the G20 summit in Hamburg.

"Maybe they went to the toilet together, that was the fourth time," Lavrov told the NBC network in an interview.

He added that Putin and Trump may have met more than thrice at the G20 summit given the specifics of the event. Speaking to the NBC network, Lavrov said that that state leaders waited in a so-called waiting room ahead of the beginning of the official events of the summit.

"There is also a room where they get together before an event starts, they cannot arrive all at the same time in a bus, they arrive at their own motorcades, then they are ushered in a room which is a waiting room, so they might have met much more than three times," Lavrov said.

The minister compared the G20 arrangement to children waiting to enter a classroom before class in kindergarten.

Putin, Trump Communicated for 2 Days During G20, No 'Secret' Meetings
Putin and Trump held their first official meeting, which ran over two hours despite being scheduled to last half an hour, on July 7, on the sidelines of the G20 summit. The two leaders discussed a number of issues, including cybersecurity and conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.

Following the meeting, local media reports emerged that the Russian and US presidents held another undisclosed conversation during a dinner at the summit in Hamburg, for an hour in the presence of only a Kremlin-provided interpreter.

Both the Kremlin and the White House denied the reports of the undisclosed meeting.
