MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A US appeals court has recently denied Bout, sentenced in the United States for 25-year prison term on charges of conspiring to supply Colombian rebels with weapons, a new trial based on new evidence.
"The Russian Justice Ministry has not received a new appeal from Bout since the refusal by the US side of such a request in 2012," the ministry's press service said in a statement.
Bout's lawyer Alexey Tarasov said Monday the defense team does not rule out an appeal to the US Supreme Court for a new trial.
