LIMA (Sputnik) — Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde said that Russia was tackling the decline in oil prices with dignity and welcomed the job done by the country's central bank, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Stanislav Voskresensky said Sunday.

"She has emotionally said in front of everybody that against the backdrop of the situation Russia had faced, first of all in the context of decrease in oil prices, Russia had proceeded to, or would proceed to, she hopes, the track of sustainable development," Voskresensky said.

He added that in a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin Lagarde said that Governor of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina had done "fantastic job" to maintain macro-economic stability.
