    Russian Northern City of Murmansk Could Attract Skiers From Iceland

    Icelandic Ambassador to Russia Berglind Asgeirsdottir said that Russian northern city of Murmansk would be a good place for those who like skiing.

    MURMANSK (Sputnik) — The ski resorts of the Russian northern city of Murmansk could attract Icelandic tourists, Icelandic Ambassador to Russia Berglind Asgeirsdottir said Wednesday.

    "Although our country is called Iceland, what means a land of ice in English, we have very soft winters with a temperature of about zero. We do not ski a lot, so Murmansk would be a good place for those who like skiing," Asgeirsdottir told reporters.

    A delegation of Icelandic companies headed by the ambassador arrived in Murmansk to take part in Murmansk International Business Week scheduled for November 17-21. Representatives of Iceland plan to discuss the Arctic issues, introduce Icelandic companies specializing in fishery equipment and services and learn more about tourism in Murmansk.
