Russia plans a number of projects with unmanned vehicles to be used first in enclosed trade and industrial zones, later in public transportation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Saturday.

YAROSLAVL (Sputnik) — Putin stressed the importance of the development of the technology and technical components, including remote servers, that will ensure traffic safety.

"At the first stage, we are planning a few pilot projects to use these vehicles in enclosed spaces, as service vehicles, at closed trade areas, industrial areas. Then, we are guided by the idea that these vehicles can be used in public transportation, but all the details have to be properly worked out," Putin said at the meeting with factory workers in the Russian city of Yaroslavl.
