MOSCOW (Sputnik) — One person has died and another six have sustained serious injuries after a helicopter crashed in Sochi in southern Russia, a local emergency services source told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
"According to confirmed data, there were seven people on board the aircraft, flying from Krasnaya Polyana to the Imereti Lowland. Six of them are were injured, one was killed," the source said.
According to the source, the victims have been taken to medical facilities in Sochi.
The private helicopter crashed near a residential building in the Adler district of Sochi. The source added that, according to preliminary data, a transmission tower, two cars and a shed were also damaged in the crash.
According to unofficial data, the incident could be due to a technical failure of the helicopter or pilot error.
