Japan Mulls Playing Role in Development of Agriculture in Russia's Far East
VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – According to the administration’s statement, a delegation headed by Osamu Hashiramoto of Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries arrived in the region on Wednesday. The delegation aimed to promote Japanese investment, technologies and enterprises in the region.

"Japan plans to invest in the development of the export infrastructure of the Primorsky Region and thereby take part in the process of creation of global value chains," the statement read.

In May, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe presented the eight-point plan for bilateral economic cooperation during his visit to Russia's southern city of Sochi. The plan covers such areas as oil and gas development and the modernization of ports and airports in the Far East.

According to Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko, Tokyo and Moscow are considering nearly a hundred of possible economic cooperation projects at the working level.
