The Russian troops have conducted 23 percent more bilateral drills in 2016, while the number of inter-branch drills rose by 12 percent over year, the country's Defense Ministry said on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Mizintsev, 135 ranges with modern equipment have been used as a platform for war games over the current year, with more than 2,500 training exercises of various level accomplished.

"The military training is still based on inter-branch and bilateral exercises. Their number rose by 12 percent and 23 percent correspondingly in comparison to the previous year," Lt. Gen. Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of the National Center for State Defense Control, said at a meeting of the Public Council in the ministry.
