MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The election campaign in Russia has been transparent and understandable under new leadership of the Central Election Commission, lower house of parliament speaker Sergei Naryshkin said Monday.
"I would like to draw attention to the relatively large amount of work that has been carried out by the Central Election Commission in its new composition. As a result, the entire electoral process, the election campaign has become more transparent, understandable, and that is also a good result," Naryshkin said.
With nearly 94 percent of the ballots counted, Naryshkin is leading in his single-member constituency with 52 percent of the votes. The governing United Russia is leading all parties with 54.28 percent of the votes, or 140 mandates, added to 203 single-constituency candidates from the party.
