On August 25, Igor Akinfeev, CSKA Moscow and Russian national team goalkeeper, took second place in the voting for the best save of the season, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) reported.

Igor Akinfeev’s “impossible” save in the Euro 2016 group stage game between Russia and England became one of the most memorable moments.

His brilliant save scored 14 percent of the total vote. The Russian goalkeeper turned Wayne Rooney’s kick to the crossbar and saved the team.

First place went to Hungarian Gabor Kiraly (35 percent) for great performance in the match with the Belgians.

Italian Gianluigi Buffon (14 percent) was voted third for his save in the Euro 2016 quarterfinals against the German team.
