Russia is closely following the US court process involving Russian citizen Roman Seleznev and intends to continue supporting line of defense, Russian Foreign Ministry Human Rights Ombudsman Konstantin Dolgov said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, Seleznev was found guilty of cybercrimes by a jury panel at a US court.

"We support [Seleznev's] lawyers, support Seleznev himself, provide him with a consular legal support. We will continue these activities. Unfortunately it is part of a broader, unacceptable, issue when the Americans are hunting our citizens, raising claims to them in the alleged wrongdoings," Dolgov told RIA Novosti.

"Unfortunately, one more unacceptable case of use by Americans of their legislation in exterritorial manner is evident. This violates lawful rights and interests of the Russian citizen," Dolgod added.

He added that Moscow would continue raising questions about US violations of Russian citizens' rights.
