    Police killed two assailants who attacked a traffic patrol station in the Moscow Region on Wednesday, the regional prosecutor's office said.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the prosecutor's office, the assailants were armed with guns and axes.

    "On August 17, two unknown men attacked a traffic patrol station located at the 20th kilometer of Shchelkovskoye highway. As a result two police officers sustained injuries, one of them is in a critical condition," the office's press service said in a statement.

    The prosecutor's office is working to establish the identities of the alleged attackers and is investigating the motives behind the attack.
