MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Candidates to the Russian lower house of parliament from every political party should cherish public trust and avoid speculating on hardship, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday.

“I ask you to value the people’s trust, promise only what you are capable of doing. Cherish the political and social stability that we achieved together in all previous years. We can only move forward with national agreement, ensuring the execution of outlined plans, and change lives for the better,” Putin said in opening remarks at the ruling United Russia party meeting.

He said the federal and local legislative and executive candidates held the responsibility to prevent social division and race to power at all costs.
