A mourning rally dedicated to the victims of the tragedy in Orlando, Florida took place on Monday near the US Embassy in Moscow, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Dozens of people gathered to mourn the lives lost in the most lethal mass shooting in the history of the United States. The territory adjacent to the Embassy is covered with flowers brought by those who came to pay tribute to the victims.

In an official telegram to Barack Obama Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Russian people share the pain and grief of those who lost their relatives and beloved ones in the 'barbaric' crime and hope for the speed recovery of those injured.

On Sunday, US national Omar Mateen killed 49 people and injured 53 others at Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando.
