Russian security forces have arrested a resident of Russia's southern Republic of Ingushetia suspected of being a member of an underground Daesh terrorist cell, the Federal Security Service (FSB) said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) A 26-year old was captured in the Sunzhensky District of Ingushetia during a police operation, the FSB said, noting that the detainee is suspected of being part of a local illegal armed group that has pledged allegiance to the Daesh.

An improvised hand grenade was seized during the arrest, according to the statement.

The Daesh is a militant jihadist group outlawed in many countries, including Russia.
