Air Pressure: Russian Aircraft Makers Challenge Dominance of Boeing, Airbus
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian industry intends to displace Boeing and Airbus long-haul aircrafts from the domestic market, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Tuesday.

"Due to the decisions that we have been working on and which have practically been adopted by the president, we shall continue pushing out from the long-haul aircraft sector – the Boeings and Airbuses which represent 80 percent of our market. This is an unacceptable situation," Rogozin said.

The Sukhoi Superject 100 (SSJ100) is among civil aircraft produced by Russia.

The Superjet 100 is a twin-engine regional passenger airliner, which completed its maiden flight in 2008 and was first commercialized in 2011. The aircraft can transport up to 98 passengers at a distance of up to 2,700 miles, and costs around $36 million in its basic configuration.

According to the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft company, 64 SSJ100s are currently in operation.
