    According to the data published on Russia's federal procurement portal, Russia's Research Institute of Microbiology of the Defense Ministry is planning to buy five rhesus macaques.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik)  Russia's Research Institute of Microbiology of the Defense Ministry, engaged in the development of defenses against biological weapons, is planning to buy five rhesus macaques, according to the data published on Russia's federal procurement portal.

    The maximum price for an auction announced by the Institute stands at almost 1.5 million rubles (some $21,817).

    The macaques expected to be male and born in 2010-2011 are due to be delivered to the Institute located in the Russian city of Kirov by June.

    The auction is due to take place on April 15.
